I was tasked to create a smart watch app with at least three screens. The app was designed without constraints, this meant I was allowed to implement futuristic technologies that are beyond the current technological limits.
Lifeline is a comprehensive safety app with a lot of innovative features that allows users to discreetly start recording video and audio in unsafe situations. Real-time video and audio recording, location, and health status is live streamed to chosen contacts and alert authorities.

Duration of Project: 1 Week
Competitor Analysis
Prior to starting the project I did competitor analysis on the top 3 apps on smartwatches and I’ve decided to research some apps on the apple watch since it is the most known and used smartwatch in the smartwatch world; the objective is to spot UX elements and marketing strategies that can help us in our ideation.
Mind Map
I then partnered with my classmate and we did a mind map, gathering apps and features that already exist in today's apple smart watches. This opened my mind up for the ideation part of my app creation.
Ideation
These some ideas that I came up with for a smart watch app
1- An app that allows you to track your friend’s location and notify you when they’ve left their location and an approximate time as to which they’ll reach your location, the app will show a visual map and how far your friend is
2- Wrist watch with haptic feedback technology that alerts blind people of their surrounding - I did not proceed with this idea due to it not being realistic as blind people will not be able to interact with the smart watch, and also there wouldn’t really be any visual interactive designs.
3- An app that tracks alcohol levels in blood notifies about levels of intoxication, the target audience are frequent gym goers but anyone who wants to drink and not face the next day consequences can use this app, this will help them to go out and have enough fun without worrying about how it might affect their next day gym session.
4- A comprehensive safety app with a lot of innovative features that allows users to discreetly start recording video and audio in unsafe situations. Real-time video and audio recording will be live streamed to chosen contacts and alert authorities on the user’s location and health. Another cool feature will be the lost navigation feature which will ensure outdoor safety-ness by providing an arrow pointing toward the nearest town and an option to reach emergency services.

The idea I chose to work on was the comprehensive safety app with a lot of innovative features that allows users to discreetly start recording video and audio in unsafe situations.
Digital Development
This phase of the project was the most exciting as I love prototyping and bringing my ideas to fruition. I drew the logo of my brand along with the chose name for the app and proceeded to refine it with the help of the feedback I received from my peers. After doing so I proceed to make my screens and add content to them. a crucial part of this phase was the typography hierarchy because when there's a lot of content on a small screen it's important to make avoid misinterpretation between headers and regular text.
Feedback
During presentation week of this project I received valuable feedback from my tutor and this pushed the app to the stage that it's at right now.
Final Product
I was very happy with the accessibility and functionality of my final product. Having to speed run run this project within the time space of a week was very fun and it allowed me to enhance my critical thinking, during this project I got a lot of feedback from my peers and it really helped a lot. I also made sure to incorporate some components for some animations in this project.

Reflection
This one week project was a nice way to start the 1 semester of my second year. Despite the time I had to do this noting felt rushed and since I love using Figma I hadn't forgotten anything about it despite not having used it for a while. During this project I learned new things that I implemented and am looking forward to applying them in my future products. I feel as though getting constant feedback whilst working was very helpful and that's another thing that I plan on doing in my next projects because I know how helpful it is for the product to be tested during its creation.
Overall I am very happy with the sleek aesthetic and functionality of my app.
